What are Glass Powders:
Glass powders are finely ground, silica-rich amorphous materials produced from milling recycled glass. When used in refractory applications, glass powders act as fluxing agents, sintering aids, as well as reactive fillers all of which can increase the overall refractory performance and improve sustainability efforts by repurposing otherwise waste glass destined for landfills. When used in refractory mixes for castables, pressed shapes and/or mortars and grouts, they increase liquid-phase sintering, improve particle packing density and decrease overall permeability which can result in stronger, denser, and more durable finished products. Glass powders also enable lower firing temperatures thereby increasing energy savings and potentially facilitating better bond strength between aggregates. Finally, glass powders can improve thermal shock resistance, joint sealing behavior in mortars and grouts and improve overall chemical durability, while allowing for partial replacement of traditional refractory minerals with a recycled, low-carbon alternative.

What is R-E-D Re-Fract 100™:
R-E-D Industrial Products is the premier supplier of glass powders designed specifically for refractory applications. Our R-E-D Re-Fract 100™ is a clean, near-white, amorphous material made entirely from recycled glass. Through an advanced cleaning and manufacturing process, our product is a high-purity, fully amorphous (non-crystalline) granule that’s safe, consistent, and environmentally responsible.
Re-Fract 100™ serves as a fluxing, bonding, or sintering agent, helping to improve density, flow, and surface finish in low- to moderate-temperature products such as castables, mortars, and firebrick formulations.
