Cenospheres for Sale | REDispheres™ C

REDispheres™ C are high-performance cenospheres reclaimed from industrial fly ash streams. Our product provides a lower-cost solution with excellent performance over other lightweight microspheres, powders, and density modifiers on the market today.

What are Cenospheres?

Cenospheres are lightweight, hollow ceramic microspheres made primarily of silica and alumina. They are created as a byproduct during the high-temperature combustion of coal in power plants. Their name comes from the Greek words for "hollow" and "sphere," which perfectly describes their structure. This unique, hollow structure is what gives them desirable properties like low density, high strength, and excellent thermal insulation.

The formation process occurs inside the plant’s furnace at very high temperatures. The extreme heat liquifies minerals in the coal to form molten droplets. Combustion gasses become trapped inside these droplets and expand them into hollow spheres, which solidify as they cool and are later harvested from the surface of flyash ponds or storage tanks.

Benefits of REDispheres™ C Cenospheres

The hollow structure of cenospheres delivers direct performance enhancements when added to various materials. Their inclusion provides the following benefits:

  • Lightweight: The low-density, hollow composition of the spheres decreases the overall weight of the final product.

  • Strength and Durability: Their relatively high compressive strength improves the durability and service life of the host material.

  • Improved Flow: The spherical shape of the particles enhances the flow and workability of both dry powder mixes and liquid mixtures, like slurries and resins.

  • Insulation: The hollow core of each microsphere provides effective thermal, acoustic, and electrical insulating properties.

  • Chemical Resistance: The chemically inert and non-toxic silica-alumina shell resists chemical corrosion and material degradation.

Industries & Applications

The physical properties of REDispheres™ C make them a functional additive in several industrial sectors. Common applications for these cenospheres for sale include:

  • Construction and Cement: They are added to cement and cement based products to create lightweight concrete, fireproofing sprays, and insulation materials.

  • Automotive and Aerospace: These industries use them in composites to reduce parts’ weight and lessen noise transmission.

  • Plastics and Polymers: As a filler in plastics and polymers, they increase durability while lowering material expenses as well as increase thermal resistance performance.

  • Paints and Coatings: Manufacturers add them to paints and coatings to modify texture, add insulative properties, and increase durability.

  • Oil and Gas: They are mixed into oil well cements to decrease density and improve flow. This lowers the risk of fracture formations and gas channeling in wells, leading to longer cement life and better well integrity.

Handling & Compliance

The integrity of REDispheres™ C is maintained through correct handling and storage procedures. Our specifications for packaging, storage, and safety help maintain product quality:

  • Packaging: Product is available in bulk super-sacks or bagged in boxes. Other packaging options can be provided upon request.

  • Storage: To maintain product quality, use dry storage, avoid contact with moisture, and keep the packaging sealed.

  • Safety and Compliance: REDispheres™ C is an amorphous material and complies with ISO 14001:2004, OHSAS 18001:2007, and R2:2013. A Material Safety Data Sheet is available on request.

Environmental Impact

Using cenospheres helps lower global warming potential, as replacing one ton of cement in concrete applications removes approximately one ton of CO2. They’re reclaimed from fly ash, a waste byproduct of coal-fired power plants that would otherwise occupy landfills. This reclamation process transforms an industrial waste stream into a valuable raw material for manufacturing.

The physical properties of cenospheres also create environmental advantages in the final products. For example, their low density creates lighter materials that reduce fuel consumption during transportation. The sphere’s insulating properties increase the thermal efficiency of materials like coatings and concrete, which reduces the energy required for heating and cooling.
