What are Microspheres?

Microspheres are engineered, hollow glass particles created through a precise manufacturing process. In contrast, cenospheres are created as a natural byproduct of coal combustion in power plants.

To make microspheres, raw glass material is pulverized into a fine powder, which is then passed through a high-temperature flame. This intense heat causes the particles to soften and expand into the final spherical shape.  

REDispheres™ G is composed primarily of amorphous boro-silicates. This composition gives the spheres an excellent ratio of high strength to ultra-low density. It also allows the powder to increase the flowability of matrices it is mixed with.

These glass spheres provide superior thermal insulation for various applications. Their brilliant white color offers excellent neutrality without impacting the final shade of paints, polymers, or plastics. The inert nature of glass also makes the spheres resistant to chemical reactions.

  • Storage: To maintain product quality, use dry storage, avoid contact with moisture, and keep the packaging sealed.

  • Safety and Compliance: It’s an amorphous material and complies with ISO 14001:2004, OHSAS 18001:2007, and R2:2013. A Material Safety Data Sheet is available on request.

Environmental Impact
